March Family Activity of the Month:

Planting seeds

First Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”

🎯 Purpose

To teach children that we all have a role, but God is the One who brings growth — in plants and in our hearts.

🧺 Materials

  • Small flower pot or plastic cup

  • Potting soil

  • Bean or flower seed

  • Small cup of water

  • Spoon (for scooping soil)

  • Marker (to write child’s name on pot)

👨‍👩‍👧 Activity Steps:

1️⃣ Read the Scripture Together

Have everyone stand or sit respectfully and read the verse out loud together.

Then say:
“God lets us help, but He is the One who makes things grow.”

Ask:

  • Can we make the seed grow by ourselves?

  • Who gives the increase?

2️⃣ “I Have Planted”

Choose one person (or child) to:

  • Put soil in the pot

  • Make a small hole

  • Place the seed inside

  • Cover it gently

Have them say:
“I have planted.”

3️⃣ “Apollos Watered”

Choose another person to gently water the soil.

Have them say:
“Apollos watered.”

4️⃣ “But God Gave the Increase”

Everyone places a hand near the pot (not pressing on it) and says together:

“But God gave the increase.”

🙏 Closing Prayer

“Lord, thank You for letting us plant and water. Thank You that You are the One who gives the increase. Help us grow in love, obedience, and faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Recap:

  • When we are kind, we are planting.

  • When we pray for someone, we are watering.

  • When someone changes and grows, God gave the increase.
